“Are you afraid of power, Mariana Lumys?”

It has been five years since the Battle of Nedale and the fall of the Fatesower, and the Terrain continues to reel in the aftermath. Tensions between the devout and nonpracticing are high as one worry seems to settle over them all: if the gods can make mistakes, are they worth worshipping?

Captain Mariana Lumys could care less. She spends her time gallivanting, and barely attends to the crew and ship her father has assigned her to. Her life is easy, her pockets are full, and her worries are few and far between.

Olynna Afrell has never cared more. She clings desperately to the shambles of her former life, and knows that if she and the rest of Rholdir’s remaining chosen don’t act, everything they once believed in will be lost.

Brought together by the quest of a goddess, the two of them find themselves in search of pieces of the divine: artifacts left behind by the gods themselves that will allow someone worthy to ascend and take Rholdir’s place in the pantheon. With the help of familiar heroes, they travel the Terrain and gather the pieces they need—but one of them is lying, an old foe is nipping at their heels, and the Mother Dadasha is keeping secrets of her own.
